Hotel Heritage & History

The Belmont Hotel was built in the 1860s and was part of the speculative development of New Walk. One hundred and thirty years later the excellent proportions and graceful elegance of the buildings form an integral part of this lovely Victorian conservation area. Originally known as Queens Walk, New Walk was laid out in 1785 and runs along one of the most beautiful stretches of Leicester. For over 200 years, this scenic walkway has been designated strictly for pedestrian use connecting the town with the former racecourse, now Victoria Park.

By Road

From East Midlands Airport - From East Midlands Airport head southwest and turn left at Viscount Road. At the roundabout take the 1st exit and stay on Viscount Road. At the next roundabout take the 4th exit onto A453/Ashby Road, go through 1 roundabout. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A42 heading to Tamworth/Birmingham/M42/London/Leicester/M1/Ashby. Take the exit onto M1 heading toward London/Leicester. At junction 21, exit onto A5460 towards Leicester. Follow the outer ring road, A563 south east. Turn left onto Lutterworth Road (A426) then turn right onto the A594. Turn right again onto the A5199 and then turn left onto University Road. Follow to the end and turn left onto Regent Road, then right onto De Montfort Street. The hotel is located on New Walk, on your right-hand side.

From MI/ M69 Motorway - From the M1/M69 motorway, take junction 21. Follow the outer ring road, A563 south east. Turn left onto Lutterworth Road (A426) then turn right onto the A594. Turn right again onto the A5199 and then turn left onto University Road. Follow to the end and turn left onto Regent Road, then right onto De Montfort street. The hotel is located on New Walk, on your right-hand side.
