The close links to the sea are maintained with a fine Sea Life Centre and The Atlantis Water Park with its long water flues. Keen explorers will enjoy the many parks, gardens and cliff top walks with spectacular sea and landside views such as North Yorkshire National Park. Scarborough makes a superb base for touring, with places like Castle Howard, York, Whitby and many other fascnating destinations such as Robin Hoods Bay and Filey, just a short distance away. The Stephen Joseph Theatre, home of Scarborough's famous playwright, Alan Ayckbourn is also an option for an exciting night out.
The number one pastime of shopping is certainly well catered for with both modern (mall and precinct style) options available and bargains for all.
