Fosse Manor Hotel in the heart of the Cotswolds is set amidst five acres of picturesque grounds. The mellow Cotswold stone exterior of this former rectory now leads into a contemporary and stylish country-house hotel that prides itself on the attentive and friendly service you receive the moment you walk through the door. Surrounded by bustling, picture postcard towns and villages, beautiful architecture and stunning countryside, Fosse Manor Hotel is ideally located for touring the Cotswolds and visiting towns such as Cheltenham and Stratford. Fosse Manor was a finalist in the "Cotswold Life Magazine" Restaurant of the year 2008, as nominated by the general public.
At a height of nearly 800 feet, Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest settlement in the Cotswold Hills. There are glorious surrounding hill top views. Stow's large market square is the focus of most activity in the town. The surrounding houses, shops and inns, in mellow Cotswold stone, represent a pleasing blend of styles, mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the centre of the town, the medieval market cross is a reminder of the days when up to 20,000 sheep were herded, for sale, into this square - the cross there to remind traders to trade fairly under the eyes of God.
Stow has its own place in the history books with the last encounter of the Civil War fought in and around Stow-on-the-Wold in 1646. St. Edward's church suffered extensive damage whilst used as a prison for the defeated Royalist soldiers. The Royalist Inn, now a pub, is listed in the Guinness book of records as the oldest inn in England, dating back to 947AD. All around Stow you will find a wealth of history reflected in the Cotswold stone architecture and the surrounding villages, friendly pubs and country churches set in beautiful hills and valleys.
Set back from Fosse Way, the ancient Roman Road from which the hotel takes its name, the mellow Cotswold stone exterior and neo-gothic features of this former rectory belies an interior whose contemporary design creates a stylishly simple environment, whilst retaining much of the character of a traditional country-house hotel.
The 21 bedrooms are all individually styled and furnished using natural tones and fabrics with many rooms benefiting from views of the gardens and surrounding countryside, providing the perfect space in which to relax and recharge.
Dining at Fosse Manor is defined as much by the pleasure derived from the setting and atmosphere as it is by the quality of the food. Described as 'traditionally English with a twist', the restaurant offers a varied range of dishes from traditional to contemporary English cuisine. Whether you choose to dine in the main restaurant or the simpler surrounds of the bar, the standard of the food and the service is superb.
The hotel has a new conference and meeting suite that can cater for up to 40 delegates, ideal for small business meetings or special occasions.
