The Hare and Hounds Hotel in Tetbury is a traditional English country house hotel in the world-famous Cotswolds. Built in mellow Cotswold stone, the hotel is set in its own manicured gardens and woodland, adjacent to the renowned National Arboretum at Westonbirt. Highgrove House is a mile away and the historic market town of Tetbury - famous for its antique shops - is just two miles away.
Bedrooms are in the original house, and adjoining buildings. Many have garden views, as does the impressive Beaufort Restaurant. The hotel has its own English country pub - Jack Hare's. Free WiFi internet access throughout. Six meeting rooms seating up to 150 delegates.
Situated amidst the beautiful countryside of the Southern Cotswolds, the Hare and Hounds Hotel is a fine English country house hotel within easy reach of the region's numerous stately homes, gardens, bustling market towns, pretty villages and visitor attractions. The hotel is easily accessible from the M4, which is 10 miles away, and the M5, which is within 15 minutes drive. The World Heritage Site of Bath is 20 miles from the Hare and Hounds and London is 2 hours away by car.
Bedrooms at the Hare and Hounds Hotel are located in the original Cotswold country house and the adjoining buildings - the Coach House, the Garden Cottage, The Forge and the recently built Silkwood Court, which houses superior quality contemporary-style rooms. Many of the bedrooms take in views over the expanse of attractive gardens and woodland that surround the hotel.
The Beaufort Restaurant is an impressive venue with period features - including a hammer-beamed ceiling - and bay windows that look out onto the gardens. The restaurant serves delicious British and Continental cuisine, with roasts available on a Sunday. The Hare and Hounds also has its own traditional English country pub - an atmospheric bar where log fires crackle, real ales flow and tasty meals are served throughout the day.
There are two recently re-surfaced tennis courts at the Hare and Hounds Hotel and guests also have the use of a new indoor pool, just half a mile away.
The National Arboretum is adjacent to the hotel and has one of the finest tree collections in the world, with over 3,000 species - many of them rare or endangered - nature trails and seasonal displays, all spread over some 600 acres of Cotswold countryside. The Prince of Wales' Highgrove House residence, with its impressive organic gardens, is a mile away (tours by appointment only) and the historic Cotswold market town of Tetbury - world-famous for its antique shops and also featuring specialist outlets and the exclusive new Highgrove Outlet - is well worth exploring.
The largest of six meeting rooms seats up to 150 delegates in a theatre-style layout. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the hotel. The Hare and Hounds Hotel holds a Green Business Tourism Silver Award in recognition of its commitment to the environment.
The Hare and Hounds Hotel has 45 bedrooms located in the main house and the adjoining buildings that comprise the hotel - the Coach House, the Garden Cottage, The Forge and Silkwood Court.
All bedrooms are en suite and feature satellite TV, direct dial telephone, complimentary Wi-Fi internet access, keycard access, smoke alarms, radio, tea/coffee making facilities, iron/ironing board, temperature controls and a hairdryer. Some rooms also have a trouser press and electric shaver point.
The Superior Rooms and luxury Suites in the recently built Silkwood Court are of a very high standard and are contemporary in design. These rooms are all air-conditioned and feature LCD televisions. Some of the Silkwood Court rooms have their own garden terrace. All bedrooms at the Hare and Hounds Hotel are non-smoking.
The original Hare and Hounds Hotel dates from the early part of the 18th century and was initially a farmhouse. The main hotel building was added in 1928 and maintains the style of the former inn.
The world famous Westonbirt Arboretum sits adjacent to the hotel. The first trees in Westonbirt Arboretum were planted in 1829 and it was continuously developed by its owners, the Holford family, until its acquisition in 1956 by the Forestry Commission. This magnificent collection of trees is now open to the public every day of the year and merits a visit at any time.
Next door to The Hare and Hounds is the Beaufort Polo Club. Though in its present form only nineteen years old, it is really a revival of a hunt polo club, which must have been one of the first if not the first, of the country polo clubs.
