Burford is regarded as the southern gateway to the Cotswolds and those entering the region through the town will feel they have drifted back to the England of yesteryear. An array of historic structures - black and white timbered buildings and those contructed from local stone - straddle the streets and lanes, many harbouring antique shops. Sheep Street, the focal point of the town, sweeps steeply down to the pretty River Windrush which is spanned by a single-track stone bridge. There is always something of interest going on in the locality at any time of the year.
