It was King Henry VIII who granted the Manor House to the Dean and Chapter of Westminster in the year 1539.
Eventually ownership passed to the Creswyke family. It is believed that the present building dates back to 1545. A direct line can be traced to Lady Elizabeth Bowes Lyon who married the Duke of York, later to become King George VI, who stayed in the hotel during the Second World War.

From the North - take Junction 15 of the M40 and the A429 south to Cirencester.
From the South - take Junction 9 off the M5 and follow the A46 to Evesham and the A44 Oxford Road to Moreton-in-Marsh. Turn right down the A429 and the hotel is 500 yards on the left hand side.
From London - take Junction 8 off the M40 onto the A40 towards Oxford. Turn onto the A44 signposted Evesham, directly onto Moreton-in-Marsh. Turn left at the mini roundabout and the hotels is 700 yards on the left.
