The Chase Golf Club, only 2.5 miles away from the hotel, joins the growing number of new clubs to be recently acquired by Crown Sports Plc. The club is situated by the 14th century village of Penkridge, and Cannock Chase Forest, with the course itself set in 150 acres of undulating countryside.

A parkland layout with generous fairways, this is a course from which high handicappers and more accomplished golfers alike can plot their way round for a good score.

The large but well protected greens demand a high level of accuracy and if the classically designed putting surfaces are not read with the utmost care, a good score will turn into a bad one, with one simple shake of the flat stick.

All the elements of a memorable course are in place, a par 72, with a scorecard that adds up to 6,707 yards, and with panoramic views across Staffordshire and Shropshire to the Welsh Hills.

Both members and visitors benefit from not only the 18 hole course, but also access to a variety of practice facilities, including a 20 bay floodlit driving range, plus areas to practise your chipping, bunker shots and putting stroke. All the facilities are open to the public 7 days a week.

The club's team of PGA qualified teaching professionals provide a full range of services for every standard of golfer, from a novice lesson programme, to a custom fit set of the latest clubs.

Visitor fees are £19.50 peak and £14.50 off peak.
