An impressive hotel set in a 220 acre estate just 400 meters from junction 62 of the A1M motorway, and reputed to be one of the most popular quality 4 star hotel in Durham city.

All bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished either with two double beds or King size beds and include flat screen multi channel television, Sky channels, fresh fruit, electronic safes, free WiFi and much more. All rooms at the hotel are non-smoking.

With two restaurants to choose from - The Rib Room Steakhouse & Grill and Pembertons Rotisserie & Carvery - you are spoilt for choice. The championship 27-hole golf course is complemented by a superb golf clubhouse, driving range and Golf Academy.

Standing in 220 acres of parkland, the oldest part of Ramside Hall dates back to 1820. Sympathetic and stylish extensions have subsequently transformed Ramside into a magnificent hotel venue.

The championship 27 hole golf course has rapidly gained a reputation as being one of the North's finest courses and is complemented by extensive facilities.

All the 80 bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished with quality facilities and individual touches. There is an enticing selection of dining options; The Rib Room Grill serves a Brasserie style menu, with
Great Steaks the House Speciality - choose your cut of meat from the viewing fridge and have this cooked to perfection in the Hotels brand new kitchens.

Pembertons Rotisserie & Carvery is open all day every day serving breakfasts, coffee, snacks, lunches, afternoon & high teas and dinners. A wide choice of fresh food served at your pace.

Disabled rooms - There are 2 Standard Double rooms located on the ground floor equipped for wheelchair guests. Features include adjustable handrails, lower sink, and wider doorways.

The Golf View Farmhouse is luxurious furnished - equipped and sleeps up to 10 people in its 5 bedrooms. The property is on the Ramside Hall estate and has views over the golf course. It is self-catering, but does have full access to the hotels dining facilities. The Farmhouse is ideal for golfing parties.

Hotel Heritage & History

In Elizabethan times Ramside Hall was known as Ramside Grange. Ramside was purchased by Thomas Pemberton in 1820. He demolished the old Grange house and erected a new building which he called Belmont Hall. Belmont parish came into existence in 1852, the church built on land donated from the Pemberton estate.

The first railway, forming part of the first main line south was opened in 1844 and effectively split the parish into two sections - Carrville and Belmont. In 1963 the Pembertons sold the Hall and it became a Hotel (still owned by the same family) and the ancient name of Ramside was restored.

Ramside Hall Hotel has developed over the years with 24 bedrooms added in 1984 and a further 50 bedrooms in 1989. In 1996 the Golf Clubhouse was opened.

The Adamson family have detailed planning permission to further develop the property, which includes more golf holes thereby creating two 18 holes golf courses, the addition of 40 more luxury bedrooms with golf views, a leisure spa with treatment rooms and hydrotherapy pools.

Ramside Hall Hotel is proud to be the North East's largest privately owned Hotel with golf.

How to find us

By Road

From the South and North: A1(M), junction 62 onto the A690 dual carriageway towards Sunderland.

Just 400m from Junction 62.

Go through the traffic lights (Park and Ride on your left hand side) take the right hand lane, go underneath the railway bridge, turn right across the dual carriageway and you are on the hotel's driveway.

From Sunderland: A690 to Durham. After driving through West Rainton look for the Carville Golf Course signs on the left hand side.

Parking: Free parking on-site for 600 cars
