Golf Course & Golfing Facilities - Woburn Hotel

The Woburn Hotel is in an unrivalled position, being able to offer its guests a choice of three championship courses that are all part of the estate. Any day spent on the Duke's, Duchess' or Marquess' course will be a day to remember. The setting is quiet and unique - all three courses winding through the heart of beautiful mixed woodland. In 1974 the late 14th Duke of Bedford had the foresight to see that a world-class golf facility could be created at Woburn. The setting in a Pine forest on a hill overlooking Milton Keynes gave the opportunity to create a 36 hole complex of prestigious beauty and challenging holes.

  • The Dukes Course
The Dukes Course was created on one of the finest inland golfing settings in Europe. It was the location for the British Masters for 20 years and, as from 2008, will be home to the Travis Perkins Group Senior Masters and other top men's and women's professional events.
Designed by Charles Lawrie in 1974, when the late 14th Duke of Bedford decided to bring golf to the Woburn Estate, the 6,983 yard Duke's course sports fairways lined with pine, silver birch and chestnut trees. Heather, bracken and gorse add to the charm of the course as well as providing some of the natural hazards of each hole. The famous third hole, framed by rhododendron bushes, has recently been voted into the 'World's Top 500 Holes' by Golf Magazine.
  • The Duchess Course
The Duchess Course is a fine example of a course built for the thinking golfer. The natural characteristics of each hole provide a testing challenge demand a number of different strategies.
Slightly shorter in length than the Duke's at 6,651 yards, the Duchess course is cut from more formal pine forest. Its rolling fairways and subtle contours are deceptively landscaped to test the golfer's full repertoire of shots.
  • The Marquess Course
Opened in 2000 The Marquess' course was a breath-taking addition to the golf club, the final step in creating a 54-hole complex that is possibly unrivalled anywhere in the UK. Named after the then Marquess of Tavistock, the course, measuring 7,214 yards, was soon referred to as the 'Jewel in the Crown'.
Set into 200 acres of mixed woodland, the Marquess' course overlaps the county boundary dividing Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and presents a variety of aspects, with its rolling and undulating terrain. The beautiful woodland is predominantly pine, spruce, sweet chestnut and oak, with a number of rare specimens such as Corsican pine, yew, rowan and beech.
