The Wynnstay Hotel & Spa is the highest rated hotel in the area, located centre of Oswestry in Shropshire, close to the border of England and Wales. Once a coaching inn, the hotel today offers 4-star accommodation, an award-winning restaurant and a health club with indoor pool and spa treatments. Uniquely, the Wynnstay Hotel & Spa has its own Crown Bowling Green.

The hotel dates back to 1727 and has been sympathetically renovated over the years. The bedrooms are individually styled with some rooms overlooking the walled gardens with its 200 years old Crown Bowling Green. Enjoy award winning food in the Four Seasons Restaurant or light meals in the Pavilion Lounge Bar or Wilsons wine bar. All public rooms are air-conditioned.

The Coach House at the rear of the hotel has been converted to a luxurious health and leisure club with heated indoor pool, air-conditioned gym, three purpose built treatment rooms and much more.

Oswestry is a bustling market town located in the North of Shropshire. Within easy driving distance are Shrewsbury, Chester, the Welsh Borders, the Marches and Ironbridge, the World Heritage Site. Llangollen, home of the International Eisteddfod is just 13 miles away.

      Hotel Heritage & History

      The Wynnstay Hotel was a well known Coaching Inn for both the route from Liverpool to Cardiff and from London to Holyhead. There are references dating back to 1727, but the existing building is typical of the Georgian Style, and there have been many alterations and additions over the years.

      The hotel which has been privately owned for the past 20 years has been sympathetically renovated over the past years, including converting the old stable block at the rear of the hotel to a luxurious health & leisure club.

      From the A5 - take the B4579 to town centre. Take left fork at Honda garage. Turn right at traffic lights. Wynnstay Hotel is 100 yards down this road opposite the church. A large car park can be found at rear of hotel.
