Britons 'holidaying at home'
Hotels in the Lake District are likely to be popular this summer, as analysts have reported that more and more Britons are taking breaks in the UK.
According to R3, 56 per cent of those who are trying to spend less on their holidays have opted to stay in Britain.
This trend was found to be particularly common among people from London, as more than four in ten said they are looking to cut the cost of their summer break.
Some 43 per cent of this group have opted to stay in the UK this year, which should be good news for owners of hotels in the Lake District and elsewhere.
Frances Coulson, vice-president of R3, said this should help to boost Britain's domestic leisure and tourism industry, as it was "badly hit" by the recession.
This comes after the Lake District launched a bid to be given
World Heritage Site status.
