Britons gear up for bank holiday break
Hotels in the Yorkshire Dales are likely to receive plenty of guests as people in the UK gear up for the bank holiday weekend.
According to research by esure car insurance, 55 per cent of Britons will spend at least one night away from home or go on a day trip over the next few days.
People living in London were found to be particularly keen to get a change of scenery, as 28 per cent are spending a minimum of one night away this weekend.
Leisure travellers have therefore been encouraged to set off at a good time in order to avoid getting caught up in the bank holiday traffic.
Mike Pickard, spokesman for esure car insurance, commented: "Motorists should check their vehicle before setting off and travel with plenty of water, snacks, a map and a mobile phone in case of breakdowns."
This comes after a poll by VisitEngland found that 48 per cent of people heading away over the next few days plan to spend their bank holiday weekend walking or cycling.
