Don't be caught short when skiing near Ullswater hotels

Skiers checking in at Ullswater hotels no longer need to be worried about being caught short on the slopes, as new toilet facilities have been opened in the area.

Believed to be the second-highest toilets in England, the facility was built by the Lake District Ski Club on Raise mountain, which is located between Ullswater and Thirlmere.

The toilets have been named the Powder Room and are situated at 2,897 feet.

Seven members of the club took two hours to roll a septic tank up the 883-metre hill, which membership secretary James Blacow described as an epic task.

Speaking to the Westmorland Gazette, he said: "It was a major job, it was a lot harder than we thought!"

Guests of luxury Lake District hotels were recently told that two toilet blocks in the area had been recognised by the British Toilet Association through its Loo of the Year competition.
