Environmental accolades scooped near Lake District hotels
Anyone staying at Lake District hotels will be glad to hear that the area has been hailed for its environmental credentials.
It scooped two first prizes at the Energy Saving Trust Fleet Hero Awards, which recognise organisations making an effort to reduce the effect of fleet vehicles on the environment.
The Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) came first place in the Grey Fleet and Business Mileage Management sections of the competition.
LDNPA carbon reduction adviser Charlotte Smyrl said that to win an accolade for the third time was beyond the team's expectations.
"This has been a real team effort and it's so encouraging to celebrate the success of our staff, who have all been so committed to cutting the impact our travel has on the Lake District," she commented.
Facilities were recently improved for those staying at hotels in Ullswater, as a toilet was installed at the top of a ski slope in the area.
