Guests in Lake District hotels can enjoy 'the best scenery in Britain'
Luxury hotels in the Lake District are likely to be popular after the region was deemed to offer the most beautiful scenery in Britain.
Car maker Chevrolet carried out a poll to determine which places are considered the most attractive locations in the UK.
Lake Buttermere in Cumbria came in first place, with 18 per cent rating it on the strength of its "picture perfect" appearance, rolling mountains and fertile land.
Neighbouring Derwentwater was ranked in second position, as 11 per cent favoured this location.
Meanwhile, Wastwater also made into the top ten, achieving a creditable eighth spot with five per cent of the votes.
Les Turton, spokesman for Chevrolet, commented: "There is a wealth of beauty on offer to everyone within the UK and we only need to hit the road to find it."
He said it is "really great" that more and more people in the country are acknowledging and appreciating domestic beauty spots.
A recent survey by shop.com found that almost two-thirds of respondents intend to take this year's holiday in the UK.
