Guided walk may appeal to guests at Lake District hotels on Boxing Day
Avid walkers keen to work off this year's Christmas pudding could treat themselves and their partner to a holiday in a Lake District hotel this December.
The Lake District National Park authority is organising a guided walk across the Yewdale Woods and up Tom Gill to Tarn Hows on Boxing Day (December 26th), offering hikers a healthy alternative to the traditional recovery from Christmas dinner.
Beginning at 10:30 GMT at Coniston Tourist Information Centre, the walk is free and will last for five hours.
Although classed as a moderate walk, hikers should be prepared for a six mile trek challenge and come prepared with walking equipment, appropriate footwear and a packed lunch.
Well-behaved dogs are also allowed on the tour, which will pass through the Monk Coniston Hall grounds on its return leg.
There is no need to book for the walk, although maximum group numbers will apply. To avoid disappointment, the authority advises walkers to show up early and adhere to guidelines and equipment recommendations, outlined on the organistion's website.
