Head to Cotswolds hotels during August Bank Holiday weekend
Luxury hotels in the Cotswolds may be in demand after consumers were encouraged to spend the August Bank Holiday weekend in the region.
VisitEngland said the Cotswolds would be an ideal destination for those who want a quiet weekend, as it offers some "charming" villages.
The organisation noted that a growing number of people in the UK are choosing to take domestic breaks at the moment.
This, it stated, has demonstrated that taking a so-called staycation has proved to be more than a passing fad.
James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland, commented: "The fact that the world 'staycation' has been added to the Oxford Dictionary of English is testament to the growing trend for Brits to holiday at home."
This comes after he revealed that England's tourism sector is worth £97 billion a year - which works out to 84 per cent of the UK's overall tourism revenues.
Mr Berresford added that the industry also supports more than two million jobs.
