Hikers encouraged to book Lake District hotels
A stay in the Lake District could be a great option for keen ramblers to consider.
According to TNT Magazine, the national park hosts many hotspots for walkers such as Scafell Pike - the highest peak in England.
Hiking enthusiasts were also encouraged to take a look at Helvellyn, near Ullswater, during their stay, along with Sca Fell and Great Gable.
"The Lake District is perfect for hikers," TNT Magazine stated.
"Grab a map and an anorak and get your hiking boots on because the Lake District is a playground for trekkers."
The magazine also recommended that people staying in Lake District hotels take in part of the Cumbrian Way, a trail that is 113km long.
However, North West Air Ambulance has urged hikers to avoid wearing Ugg boots if they plan to take to the fells.
Chief executive Lynda Brislin told the Westmorland Gazette that they do not have good grips on the soles like walking boots, before adding that some are not water-resistant.
