Guests of hotels in Stow on the Wold may have caught a glimpse of popular author Jilly Cooper over recent days, as she visited the area to open a plant sale.

She was invited along to Eyford House to officially open the event, which included a shopping village selling a vast array of accessories for gardeners.

Local producers were also on hand to give visitors a taste of what Gloucestershire has to offer.

Eyford is widely known as "England's favourite house" and is a must-see destination among those staying at country house hotels in the Cotswolds.

It was recently voted England's best country home by Country Life, beating off competition from around 150 other hopefuls who were put forward for the title.

The judges described the property as the "quintessential country house for many generations", while also praising its vast yet well-kept grounds.
