Kick back and relax at hotels in Windermere
There is no better place to enjoy some relaxation than at hotels in Windermere, Ellis Butcher, a spokesman for Cumbria Tourism, has recommended.
Despite being a national park, accommodation in the Lake District still manages to block out all the stresses and strains of everyday life and give people some escapism.
"If you haven't been before it would probably make sense to be near a major town such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston or Keswick," he suggested.
Mr Butcher pointed out that hotels in Keswick are perfect for those who want to see some particularly stunning scenery, as are valleys such as Eden, Eskdale and Wasdale.
Spanning 885 square miles, the Lake District is the largest national park in England, with its highest peak being Scafell Pike, which soars to 978 metres.
Bassenthwaite Lake is the only official lake within the park boundary, with the others described as either meres or waters.
