North Cotswolds to celebrate jubilee weekend in style

The Queen is celebrating her diamond jubilee later this summer, and the rest of the country is invited to the party.

Events are taking place up and down the UK over the extended weekend, which runs from Saturday June 2nd to Tuesday June 5th, thanks to the addition of two bank holidays.

This provides the ideal opportunity to get out and see some of the country, and you could also take part in celebrations wherever you choose to go.

You could treat yourself to fine dining in the Cotswolds over this weekend, which will be the perfect end to the day after exploring the countryside on a lovely long walk.

The North Cotswolds is also getting into the party spirit by hosting a number of jubilee events for you to take part in.

The Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard reported that residents in Bourton-on-the-Water will be holding a street party and outside picnic, while a Queen tribute band will be taking to the stage to entertain revellers.

Stow-on-the-Wold's cricket pitch will be renamed in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to mark her 60 years on the throne, while a Jubilee Jamboree exhibition will be held at St Edward's Hall on Friday June 1st.

Sports fans could relax by watching a cricket team from the Queen's Head hotel take on a side which is representing the Vintage Car Club on Tuesday June 5th. Children's entertainment will be put on, while classic cars will be on display for visitors to marvel at.

Bourton-on-the-Water will be home to a dinner dance at the British Legion Hall on Saturday June 2nd, while a joint service of thanksgiving will be held the next morning followed by a cricket match in the afternoon, according to the newspaper.

After enjoying your day among local residents and fellow visitors, you can then kick back and relax with a nice glass of wine and indulge in some fine dining at one of the Cotswolds' outstanding eateries.
