People feel happier after a brisk walk, charity says
Enjoying a brisk walk while staying at luxury hotels in the Lake District could have a positive impact on wellbeing, the National Trust has said.
It found that many families get together for a festive stroll at this time of year, which can have a number of benefits people may not be aware of.
National Trust director for the south-west Mark Harold said: "Wellbeing and happiness are complicated areas to properly measure but these findings support a growing number of academic studies that show the importance of access to the outdoors for both health and wellbeing."
Results from a study by the group discovered that 80 per cent of the happiest people have a strong association with nature and the great outdoors.
Earlier this year, the charity found that children are not playing outside nearly as much as older generations did when they were much younger.
