Poetry fans at hotels in Ambleside should not miss the Wordsworth Museum
Lovers of literature staying in hotels in Ambleside in September may want to arrange a trip to the Dove Cottage and Wordsworth Museum, which will be holding poetry events.
Beginning on September 12th through to September 27th, there will be at least three poetry sessions every week, including readings and presentations.
The informal A Spot of Poetry reading sessions will take place on September 12th, 19th and 26th between 14:30 and 15:00 BST, hosted in either the Wordsworth Museum garden or the Jerwood Centre Lower Rotunda, depending on the weather.
Sessions will feature new and classic poems from poets and staff members at the Wordsworth Trust and are free to attend.
Meanwhile, two Poets on Poets events will be hosted on September 14th and 17th and will see contemporary writers given talks on classic works.
The first session takes place between 10:30 and 11:30 BST at the Jerwood Centre and sees Christopher Reid present Selected Letters of Ted Hughes. In the second session, Robert Crawford presents a talk on TS Eliot.
Finally, on September 24th at 16:30-18:00 BST, Dr Robert Poole hosts a talk on the Poetry of Peterloo and the political poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley.
