Hotels in Keswick are likely to be welcoming a large number of theatre-goers in the New Year, as the Theatre by the Lake has unveiled its schedule for 2012.

As usual, a number of great performances will be taking place, including Knives in Hens by David Harrower, running from February 2nd-18th.

It is described by the venue as a "haunting tale of superstition, murder and desire" that takes place in a pre-industrial landscape.

Another show that is sure to be a hit is the History Boys by Alan Bennett, which is scheduled to run from March 24th-April 21st.

The ever popular production follows the lives of those at a boys' grammar school in the north of England during the 1980s, as they go in pursuit of places at Oxbridge.

An audio-described production is scheduled for April 21st and a captioned show will take place on April 18th.
