Volunteers make Windermere clean-up operation a success
An annual spring clean has taken place in the Lake District, with organisers hailing the event a success compared to previous years.
Guests of hotels in Windermere may well have been among those who got involved in filling more than 70 bags with debris from the surrounding area.
Other groups taking part included police support officers, community groups and even local schools, who all helped make a difference for those visiting the region.
National park ranger Steve Tatlock commented: "With more groups and more people involved I hope that others throughout the Windermere catchment will be encouraged to join in next year."
He added that local businesses have also taken action to ensure the area remains clean for those staying at country house hotels in the Lake District.
In recent days, a new look website was launched for the Lake District visitor centre, Brockholes, which has attracted visitors from all over the world.
