Words By The Water Literature Festival scheduled in Lake District

The Words By The Water Literature Festival will begin on 2nd March, providing an excellent excuse for travellers to choose from the hotel and spa breaks available in the beautiful region.

With its awe-inspiring landscape, breathtaking hills and tranquil atmosphere, the Lake District represents the ideal location for those who want to get away from it all in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, with March approaching and spring just around the corner, now could be the perfect time to witness the fantastic area with the sun beaming down on it as we begin the road to summer.

Once people have enjoyed their fair share of walks across the Lake District's many splendid routes, they will be searching for other events to explore the region's culture.

With this in mind, one attraction that could prove especially endearing is the Words By The Water Festival, which is an event focussed on literary works which will take place at Theatre By The Lake in Keswick from March 2nd.

It will run until March 11th, meaning that visitors have plenty of time to explore the wonderful efforts of writers and readers in the Lake District. Among those appearing at the festival are Alistair Darling, Roger Bolton, Hunter Davies and Martin Bell.

Davies and Bolton will be joined by Eric Robson to discuss why Carlisle Boys' Grammar School and the Cumbria region has developed such a wide array of literary professionals, while Martin Bell will be on hand to explain the thought processes that went into his first ever poetry book.

Joan Bakewell will also be appearing to discuss her new novel, while Simon Watt from Channel 4's Inside Nature's Giants will hold talks on natural history.

Once their visit to the festival is over, people can look forward to a night in one of the Lake District's luxury hotels, acting as a great way to top off a fantastic getaway.
