This living, working museum is set in 300 acres of verdant Durham countryside. At Beamish you can experience first-hand what life was like in North East England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. The town itself takes you back in time to the years leading up to the First World War, with shops, trams, a stables and carriage house and plenty of costumed folk. There is also a typical Edwardian railway station, a 1940s farm, a colliery, a pit village, Pockerley Old Hall and Pockerley Waggonway, offering an 1800s steam ride through Georgian landscape.
