Sitting quietly in the heart of the Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the charming hamlet of Flatford was the inspiration for some of John Constable’s iconic paintings. Whether its a stroll beside the River Stour, or admiring Flatford Mill and Willy Lott’s Cottage, it is easy to see why Flatford caught this famous English Romantic painter’s eye. There is an exhibition about Constable in Bridge Cottage and contemporary displays in the Boat House Gallery. Explore ‘Constable Country.’
