Loch Assynt offers excellent fishing for trout, sea-trout, and salmon. The picturesque ruin of Ardvreck Castle, once held by the MacLeods and Mackenzies, perches on a rocky promontory on the north shore. The Assynt area of Sutherland offers a number of historic monuments, including a kiln barn, a mill and an ancient chambered cairn. Visitors can enjoy some of the best scenery in the north west Highlands and some of the best wild brown trout fishing in Europe.
