The village of St David’s was granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II because of the presence of the St David’s Cathedral, one of Britain’s oldest cathedrals. Built upon the site of St David’s 6th Century monastery, the Cathedral was one of the most important shrines of medieval Christendom. Regular guided tours take in the treasury, which tells the story of 1,500 years of Christian worship at St Davids, and the cloister area, which features fascinating exhibitions of Pembrokeshire artists.
