Gellifawr Country House Hotel – 1
“You watch a seal frolic on the shore and hear the skylark’s song. You soak up the beaches and wildlife of Britain’s only coastal national park. You stay inspired.”
This 18th Century stone-built farmhouse has retained its country house ambience and charm whilst offering the services and facilities of a superior quality 3-star hotel. Beyond Gellifawr Hotel’s pretty gardens and 12 acres of farmland lies the untouched beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Nearby Carningli (translates to ‘Mountain of Angels’) can be seen from the hotel grounds. Dominating the skyline, this former volcano offers evidence of settlements from the Iron and Bronze Ages.
Rooms at Gellifawr Hotel are individually designed and benefit from free Wi-Fi. Much of the accommodation takes the form of two- to six-person country cottages, which have been sympathetically converted from the original 18th Century mill houses, barns and coach houses when Gellifawr Hotel was a large working farm. The hotel’s country-style restaurant sources local Pembrokeshire produce to prepare seasonal Welsh dishes, with starters and desserts that change regularly.
Gellifawr Hotel is tucked away in the Gwaun valley, 4 miles from the beautiful golden crescent of Newport Sands Beach, a Site of Special Scientific Interest at the mouth of the River Nevern. Here, intrepid explorers can pop into the National Park Visitor Centre; keen golfers can play the stunning 18-hole links course; and water sports enthusiasts can take to the water. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is world-famous for its Green Coast Award beaches and wonderful array of wildlife; from Atlantic grey seals, to rare sea birds.
