    Wroxall Abbey Hotel – 1

Set amid 27 acres of pristine parkland, just 6 miles from Warwick, Wroxall Abbey Hotel dates back to the 12th Century and was once the country seat of Sir Christopher Wren, architect of St Paul’s Cathedral. The original priory was founded by Benedictine nuns and Prioress Isabella Shakespeare (William Shakespeare’s aunt) and other members of the Bard’s family were involved at the priory until its dissolution in 1536. Shakespeare’s Stratford and cosmopolitan Birmingham are both within easy reach.

The beauty salon at Wroxall Abbey Hotel has its own private reception, a relaxation orangery, a sun terrace and luxurious treatment suites with a full ESPA therapy menu. The health club features an indoor pool and a fitness suite.

Former winner of the UK Award for an ‘Exceptional Dinner,’ the Sonnets Restaurant, with its magnificent fireplace and opulent oak panelling, creates a rich, candlelit atmosphere in which to enjoy fine food. Murals adorn the walls and windows look out over the hotel’s glorious parkland setting. Game is sourced fresh from the Wroxall Abbey Estate and fruits and herbs are grown in Wren’s crinkle crankle walled garden. Guests staying midweek can enjoy complimentary tea and cake in the Garden Lounge.

The smallest cathedral in Britain, the Grade I listed Wren’s Cathedral is hidden away on the Wroxall Abbey Estate and features intricate stonework and some of the oldest stained glass in the country. Free Wi-Fi and free parking.
