Call at National Trust properties on way to hotels in Wales
Families travelling to hotels in Wales for the bank holiday weekend have been encouraged to break up their journey at National Trust properties.
According to the body, there are plenty of interesting locations that are situated only a short distance away from main roads and motorway junctions.
For example, people were pointed towards Newark Park, a Tudor house that could be a good stop-off point for anyone driving to hotels in South Wales.
The National Trust said this could be an appealing alternative to stopping off at a motorway service station.
A convenient map of possible places for bank holiday drivers to visit has been added to the group's website.
However, the National Trust advised consumers that the roads are likely to be very busy with holiday traffic this weekend.
According to Abta - The Travel Association, about two million Britons are expected to enjoy breaks in the UK's cities and seaside resorts during the bank holiday period.
