Enjoy quilting exhibition while at Yorkshire hotels
There are plenty of top attractions to visit while staying at luxury hotels in Yorkshire, with the Quilting Museum and Gallery in York one of the most unusual.
It has revealed details of its 2011 summer exhibitions, which include one showcasing the best of history through the art of quilt-making.
The other, entitled Made in Yorkshire, looks at the way quilting is demonstrated through art and in particular the works of Philippa Naylor, Gillian Travis, Sallie Temple and Fiona Wilson.
A variety of unique and fascinating pieces will be on show, including a quilt made to mark Queen Victoria's golden jubilee back in 1887.
The earliest item held by the museum is a silk patchwork coverlet, which is believed to date from 1718.
A recent survey carried out by VisitBritain found that the majority of people visit Yorkshire for its scenery, while others enjoyed visiting its many pubs.
