Visit the Lake District for Keswick Mountain Festival this May

There is much on offer for people scouring Lake District walking holidays for this May, with the Keswick Mountain Festival sure to be an attractive proposition.

The area has established itself as one of the UK's most-loved holiday destinations, providing tourists with a charming atmosphere, alongside picturesque landscapes and a selection of unique community shops.

By visiting the Keswick Mountain Festival, people will be able to enjoy all of the above as well as a number of fantastic activities, which will be spread over a five day period from May 16th to May 20th.

The event will give people the chance to participate in sporting competitions, adventure challenges and listen to speeches from the likes of Monty Halls, Helen Skelton, Sir Chris Bonington and Mick Fowler.

Fowler has picked up several awards for his exploits in mountaineering and those who listen to his talk will be able to hear his own recount of visiting the far west of Nepal, where he encountered landslides and plane crashes ahead of climbing a previously unconquered summit.

Aside from all the action, those taking part in the festival will be able to enter the Festival Village to relax with delicious local food and drink, all while being surrounded by the captivating summits of Skiddaw and Catbells.

His talk will take place at Rawnsley Centre on May 19th, and is one of many other attractions scheduled for the festival, including a discussion session held by Cameron McNeish, who has become a key part of the UK's outdoors scene.

McNeish has been involved in the development of outdoors programmes for the BBC for 20 years, covering activities such as rock climbing and mountaineering, meaning that he has a variety of knowledge to pass on to listeners.

With the chance to take part in a number of activities and learn new knowledge from some of the outdoors world's experts, the Keswick Mountain Festival is certain to draw in many tourists to the Lake District this year.
