Winchcombe Walking Festival scheduled for May

Spring is the perfect time for people to enjoy the great outdoors, meaning that many people will be looking at the guided walking holidays available in Britain.

While there are many options, the Cotswolds is certain to be a preferred destination for many of the country's walking enthusiasts, as the area is home to some of the UK's most spectacular greenery, providing people with a relaxing escape from their daily routines.

Unforgettable greenery, awe-inspiring hills and a warm, welcoming atmosphere are among the benefits that the region has to offer.

As well as this, the Cotswolds is not just designed for specialist walkers, as it has a number of routes available, suiting a wide selection of abilities.

Those who are looking to visit the area may want to plan their trip around the dates of the Winchcombe Walking Festival, which is scheduled from Friday May 18th to Sunday May 20th.

As part of the event, 17 guided walks will be available, with experts on hand to offer any necessary assistance.

Highlights of the festival include a route which covers Windrush Way from Winchcombe to Bourton, where people will pass the remains of many medieval villages.

The area's history is also prominent on other trails, especially the Cotswold Way, which provides individuals with the opportunity to gain an insight into Winchcombe's military background during the first two World Wars.

Speaking to the Tewkesbury Admag, secretary of the event Robert Talbot said that, due to demand for the festival, the committee are considering increasing the number of walks.

In addition to the walking events, the festival gives people the opportunity to meet others who are taking part, with a pub quiz organised on May 18th as part of the event.

Overall, the Winchcombe Walking Festival provides tremendous walking trails, a heap of historical knowledge and the chance to meet new friends, making the Cotswolds a great option for Britons this spring.
