Bohemia's Shaun Rankin WINS Great British Menu

Following a 8 weeks of heats and tough competition, Shaun Rankin from Bohemia Bar & Restaurant was tonight named one of the winners in the fourth series of BBC Two's Great British Menu and will be serving his dessert of Treacle Tart with Clotted Cream and Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream at a glorious homecoming banquet for the men and women recently returned from active military service in Afghanistan at the RAF's historic Halton House.

The final menu was the result of fierce competition involving 16 top chefs from across the country, including two from Classic British Hotels member hotels – Shaun Rankin, Head Chef at Bohemia at The Club Hotel & Spa in Jersey and Ian Matfin, Executive Chef at Michael Caines Restaurant at the Abode Hotel Manchester. Great British Menu judges Prue Leith, Matthew Fort and Oliver Peyton were faced with the task of deciding which chef from each region or nation would go through to the national finals and face the public vote. Shaun Rankin went through to represent the South West. In the regional heats Rankin was up against acclaimed chef Nathan Outlaw from Nathan Outlaw Restaurant in Fowey, Cornwall, who holds a 'rising two Michelin star'.
The eight regional heat winners returned to the kitchen to recreate their menus for the judges. At the end of each programme the public also had the chance to cast their vote for their favourite dish. The winning dishes were selected by combining the scores from the judges with the public vote.
The judges were delighted with the final menu and how well it captured the competition's theme of 'A Taste of Home'.
Rankins dessert of treacle tart accompanied by Jersey clotted cream and raspberry ripple ice cream really stole the show. The really great news is that diners can enjoy Shaun's full four-course menu for the competition on a 'Great British Menu' Gourmet Getaway Break at The Club Hotel & Spa or by calling Classic Reservations on 0845 0 70 70 90.
Situated on the ground floor of The Club Hotel & Spa in the heart of St. Helier, Bohemia Bar & Restaurant has been Jersey's finest dining establishment since opening its doors in April 2004. Since then, with Rankin at the helm, Bohemia has received an impressive array of accolades, including a Michelin Star which it has held onto since 2005, 4 AA Rosettes and a coveted A** in Harden's UK 2006 Restaurant Guide. In the 2009 Which Good Food Guide Shaun Rankin was named as the 17th Best Chef in the UK.
