The jewel in the crown of the historic market town of Barnard Castle, the Bowes Museum houses internationally significant collections of fine and decorative arts and was built in the 19th Century by John and Josephine Bowes. Spanning three floors of this Grade I listed chateau, collections include paintings by Van Dyck, Canaletto and Goya, Sevres porcelain and fashion from the 16-20th centuries.
