This mid-19th Century Victorian mansion is located in the heart of Taplow. The present house was given its Jacobean-revival, French Gothic appearance by the talented Scottish architect William Burn. The site of Taplow Court is a fascinating story of human habitation – you can still see the 7th Century Anglo-Saxon burial mound in the garden. There has been a manor house on the site since 1066, but it was not until the 17th Century that Taplow Court was taken over by the Hampson family, the same family to own Taplow House. Passing through numerous hands – including the Earls and Countesses of Orkney – Taplow Court is today the home of SGI-UK, a lay Buddhist society.
