Spencer's Bar & Brasserie
For a more informal dining experience, Spencer’s Brasserie offers extensive lunch and evening menus, with a large selection of steaks straight from the grill and delicious burgers served with homemade chips. Starters include grilled Pantysgawn goats cheese, beetroot and pine nut salad on organic sunflower rye bread. For a main, try rib eye of Welsh black beef, braised shank of Nantmel lamb with roasted shallots, or traditional Welsh steak and kidney pie. Round it off with apple and blackberry crumble served with creamy custard. As you can see from the menu, there is an emphasis on supporting local food producers and farmers.

Llandrindod Wells Golf Club (off-site)
When it’s time to tee off, guests of the Metropole Hotel are offered preferential rates at Llandrindod Wells Golf Club, just half a mile away, with its turf banks, natural hazards and well-protected greens rated amongst some of the best in Wales. The 18-hole course was designed by six times open champion Harry Vardon, then later altered by James Braid. Each tee demands a different tactic, with out of bounds on eight holes and blind shots often leading to double bogies. Golf rarely offers such spectacular views, with the first tee looking down across the Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells and the neighbouring valleys. Overhead, buzzards and red kites steal through the sky.
